An Ostrich and a Vision Board Walk In To A Bar...

In January at the first ever Everme Retreat, I made a vision board. I feel like it was a sin for me as a coach to never have created a vision board. Isn’t that what coaches do?! Anyway…

Bridget (@bsigette2 on Insta for those of you who don’t yet know/follow Bridget) led this part of the retreat. We spent a good portion of the time cutting out magazine clips. My approach for this was to just quickly flip through magazines and cut out anything that caught my eye/gut. I challenged myself to keep flipping when I felt the pang of “you should cut that out”. To which I’d respond, “quiet down little monster mind - you’re not needed here today!”. To anyone who was at the retreat, yes I was having these very intense conversations with myself while we were doing this.

When it came time to start assembling our boards, I wasn’t sure what I’d end up with. Had I cut out all the pieces that I needed? Could I really create one board that reflected all of what I wanted for 2020?

It was so fun to watch it come to life. I love how everything fit onto the page. It felt seamless and effortless to put it all on the page and all the clippings ended up totally meant to be.

Here’s the lowdown on some of what is on my 2020 vision board:

The Daily Detox: I’ve been on quite the healing journey since November 2018. I’ve gone off of hormonal birth control, went gluten-free, became a regularly practicing yogi (3-4 times/week at least), cleaned up my household products (cleaning, makeup, bath, etc), and the list goes on. The Daily Detox for me means living a lifestyle that is constantly bringing me toward optimal health - physically, emotionally and spiritually.

What will you design?: A friendly reminder that we are the Chief Design Officers of our lives. At any moment, we have the power to choose a new direction, a new goal or a new way of living. It may not change over life but at the end of the day, we are the ultimate creators of our lives.

The Workbook: I’ve been in the process of turning my Love Your Job career coaching package into a digital workbook so that more people can have access to me without also having access to my calendar. It’s a work in progress but I can’t wait to share more about it!

The Big White House: No, we’re not moving, but this house is reflective of one I see when I connect with my “future self”. I did an exercise lead by the coach Tara Mohr where you meditate and “meet” your future self (the version of you 20 years from now). In this meditative experience, I met my coach at a house similar to this in the mountains by a lake in Colorado. It’s a reminder of myself to make decisions in alignment with my future self (who of course is all the successful, productive and happy things I want to be!).

The Ostrich: Doesn’t he just make you smile? What good is a vision board / a life without some humor? I recently learned that one of HGTV’s core company values is “humor”. How cool is that? My little ostrich friend is a reminder to have fun along the way and to do it if it makes you smile.
