Intuition Basics: 3 Exercises for Intuitive Development

Your intuition is just like any other muscle or skill. In order to get the most out of it, you must exercise it.

I believe that we’re all intuitive and what varies from person to person is how in tune they are with their intuition.

If you’re looking to learn more about your intuition or go deeper into your intuitive journey, this blog features 3 exercises to develop your intuition. I’ve sequenced them in a specific order so try them in the order listed (or don’t if you’re intuition says differently *cheesy smile*).

(P.S. If you’re like wait, what exactly is intuition again? Check out this previous blog post.)

  1. Try intuitive journaling with your opposite hand. Using your dominate hand, write a question down in your journal. Try something like “What’s important for me to know today?” or “What’s my next right action?” Switch your pen or pencil to your non-dominate hand, take a deep breath and then write out what your intuition tells you. Doing this a few times a day will help you get to know your intuition’s “voice” (veruses ego, anxiety, monkey mind, etc).

  2. Play a word association game. Creativity and intuition flow on the same energetic highway so if you can get on the creativity train, you’ll be able to hop over to the intuition train. Here’s an Instagram post (which includes another intuitive development exercise!!) on this concept and a short video explaining this quick intuitive game.

  3. Focus on building trust with your intuition. To “get” the most out of your intuition, you need to trust it (and then act on it). Start to use your intuition in small, daily activities (such as picking out a shirt or a coffee mug). Ask your intuition for a symbol for “yes” and a symbol for “no” (simply close your eyes and go with the first thing that comes to mind - it’s that easy). When you go to pick a shirt or a coffee mug, ask your intuition “should I use this blue mug today?” if you see/sense/feel your “yes” symbol, use that blue mug. Try not to waver or overthink it.

Every so often I offer my Love Your Intuition Masterclass and if you found this helpful, you’d love that class. Feel free to drop me a DM on Instagram or leave a comment on this post if you want to stay in the loop on the next round of this class!

Happy intuition building!
