Today marks 7 years of Everme! From the early days of Everme Coaching to the new days of Everme and Co, here are 7 lessons I’ve learned along the way.
The first thing you should learn in business is how to sell. While there are many things to learn as you start your own business, having a basic understanding of sales, specifically how to sell in alignment with your energy/personality, is mission-critical. I spent so much time learning things like how to have a blog, grow an Instagram, etc. It wasn’t until year six that I actually started to focus on my sales process! It’s been a vital part of my ability to leave my 9-5 with an abundance mindset.
If you wait until you know what you’re doing, you’ve waited too long. Million-dollar ideas die every day because we waste time trying to understand what to do instead of simply doing it. You can either be on the sidelines or in the arena. Period.
You will grow, possibly faster than your business grows. Be mindful of the personal/professional growth wedge. You may be closely connected to your business, but YOU are not your business. Anticipate great personal growth in this journey. Let the newness of your growth fuel your business.
Your business has its own cycles, just like you do, just like nature does. Sometimes it’s a lush rainy season, other times, it's a dry season. Learning to partner with your business in its current season versus forcing it to be something it’s not will save you a lot of energy in the long run.
Play the long game because, as Angela Duckworth puts it, “Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare”. No one is more magnetic than the new coach or business owner. When you’re just getting started, you want to SPRINT! And sprint you will. But remember, come back to that zone where you can go for longer and longer periods of time. Prioritize what is simple and sustainable to keep you and your business’ energy in balance.
Other people are not your competition. You are your competition. If you’re letting other people’s business tells you about yourself, you’re making a big mistake! Your focus should be on what’s going on within you. Are you keeping your mindset positive? Are you working on what YOU need to be working on? Are you cultivating your own creative genius or copycatting what you see in the market?
Intuitive strategy is THE strategy. When you finally surrender and let your intuition take the driver's seat versus relying on the logical “I read this business book once” mind, you will finally allow your business to be all that it was meant to be PLUS bonus energy left over for all the things your heart desires. Forcing isn’t freeing, it’s limiting. Intuiting IS freeing.
